Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, The Health Information Management (HIM) Director is responsible for coordinating health information management services across the organization. The HIM Director is responsible for administering the organization's privacy program. RESPONSBILITIES: ---Directs the HIM functions including coding, transcription and operations. ---In collaboration with the Hospital Director of Information Services (HDIS), develops and deploys health information management systems as part of the organization's information system plan. ---Monitors health information management systems and sets the hospital's standards for data quality and ethical practice. ---Participates in the development of health information management policies and procedures on release of information, confidentiality, information security, information storage and retrieval, and record retention. ---Operates within department budget; manages productivity; identifies and supports growth initiatives; demonstrates understanding of return-on-investment. ---Actively participates in the organization's revenue cycle activities and management of discharged not final billed (DNFB) within company expectations. ---Provides education and training to the organization's employees in areas relevant to health information management policies and procedures ---Supports and facilitates clinical, administrative, and external data use functions ---Monitors local, national, and international trends in healthcare delivery ---Monitors changes in legislation and accreditation standards that affect health information management ---Assists in the review, aggregation, and response to various departmental and organizational audits ---Serves as an internal consultant on health information management issues including release of information, confidentiality, information security, information storage and retrieval, and record retention as well as authorship and authentication of health record documentation, standardization of medical vocabularies, and use of classification systems ---In collaboration with the HDIS, develops and implements the organization's information management plan ---Serves on various organization-wide committees. ---Actively participates in the facility HARMS committee. ---Actively participates in the organization's performance improvement plan. ---Assists in giving direction to the organization's clinical documentation improvement (CDI) program. ---Manages the daily operations of the privacy program, development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures, monitoring program compliance, investigation and tracking of incidents and breaches and insuring patients' rights in compliance with federal and state laws. Qualifications: Certification as an RHIA, Registered Health Information Administrator, preferred, or certification as an RHIT, Registered Health Information Technician, required. Five years of experience in a leadership role in health information management. Experience in administrative and staff management. Experience in project management. Knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications in addition to database applications and report writing software. Experience in Privacy Officer duties and knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations. Additional Info: Current Director is retiring in spring and they are looking have a seemless transition. Department is in great shape. Compensation: The facility will offer a salary between 69K-104K plus the person can earn up to 10% bonus based on facility criteria. They offer great benefits package that includes relocation(up to 5K), temp housing allowance($1600) and a retention bonus(5K after 24 months of continuous employment).
