ServeWyoming AmeriCorps VISTA-Summer-Iris House
The Iris Clubhouse empowers our members to develop relationship
and career skills in a safe working environment. We prepare and
enjoy a noon meal together and offer a wide range of opportunities
to members during the work ordered day to better their own lives
including skill building and assistance with employment, education,
socialization, transportation, housing, wellness, and life skills.
Iris Clubhouse requires participants to be 18 years or older,
living with mental illness and not to pose a current threat to the
clubhouse community. Nearly all of our members are on Social
Security Disability. A few are working toward employment and three
of our twenty-seven active members are employed. COVID has impacted
the ability of our members to find secure employment and as we
recover we focus our skills development to be of best assistance to
businesses that are working to reopen and insure confidence in our
members to return to society post-COVID and be productive members
adding to the community and economic recovery in these difficult
times. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
Member Duties : The VISTA Summer Associate will expand and
enhance the scale and reach of Iris Clubhouse in order to increase
our ability to serve more people, new groups, and provide new or
expanded types of service. The VISTA will support our efforts in
COVID community and economic recovery through workforce development
and education focused on entering the workforce post-COVID to
businesses struggling to reopen. Through financial resource
development, public relations and outreach, and community relations
building VISTAs will ensure the ability of Iris Clubhouse to
continue to provide and improve on the quality services offered
through our organization. Our life skills training are important to
the success of those in the program, including our noon meal
preparation and service. Through this program we help fight food
insecurity and give our members the skills needed to sustain their
personal food security as they work on improving the post-COVID
economy with their newly developed skills.
